Kererū are one of Aotearoa’s largest native bird species, typically found in areas of regenerating and mature bush. However, when conditions suit, they’re also known to frequent urban parks. This individual was spotted on Tiritiri Matangi Island with its partner nearby, both thriving in the island’s predator-free environment.
